PBL Biomedical Laboratories (PBL) was founded to pursue advances in the diagnosis and treatment of disease with interferon and other biotherapeutics. Interferon is a protein that regulates the immune system and is the body’s first defense against viral invaders. PBL generates revenues to support its R&D efforts primarily from the manufacture and sale of interferons, other cytokines, antibodies, and ELISA kits. PBL is the world’s largest manufacturer of interferons and interferon reagents for research use and is the only laboratory in the world that produces all the human alpha interferon species.
