TriniCLOT Factor VIIITriniCLOT Factor VIII Deficient Human Plasma is intended for the quantitative determination of factor in human plasma by clotting assay. TriniCLOT Factor VIII may also be used as a negative control in von Willebrand Factor assays since it is also devoid of Factor VIII vWF. Factor VIII is a cofactor in the activation of coagulation Factor X by Factor IXa. Plasma samples which are severely deficient in Factor VIII, IX, X or XII have a greatly prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT). When a patient’s plasma is mixed with a plasma known to be deficient in one specific factor (congenital or immunodepleted), the degree of correction of the clot time is proportional to the level of this factor in the patient’s plasma. |
