MDA Verify Reference PlasmaMDA® Verify® Reference Plasma is an assayed human plasma that has been lyophilized to maintain the integrity of the constituents. It is intended for use as a reference plasma in the quantitation of thrombosis and hemostasis proteins. Many procedures performed in the hemostasis laboratory require the use of a well-characterized reference plasma to evaluate levels of clotting factors, inhibitors, and fibrinolytic proteins in blood specimens. It is common practice to use freshly drawn pools of normal platelet-poor plasma from a relatively large number of healthy donors as this reference plasma. It is difficult to obtain and maintain a consistent and reliable pool. Using a large number of qualified donors (those who are healthy, non-smoking, under no medication, etc.) does not ensure a reference material with 100% activity for each hemostasis protein. Therefore, a reliable reference plasma containing quantitated levels of the major hemostatis proteins is a suitable replacement for a normal pool. MDA® Verify® Reference Plasma is a stabilized, lyophilized reference plasma useful for preparing reference curves for clotting and chromogenic assays. The assigned activity of each hemostasis protein included in MDA® Verify® Reference Plasma was calculated based on the results of multiple assays.
