TriniCLOT Automated APTT 3 ml

TriniCLOT Automated aPTT is a Platelet Factor 3 reagent (partial thromboplastin) plus particulate activator for the determination of activated partial thromboplastin times.

TriniCLOT Automated aPTT contains a Platelet Factor 3 reagent (rabbit brain phospholipids) plus a particulate activator (micronized silica) in a suitable buffer. It is a reagent used in the activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (aPTT) test which is sensitive to all factors in the intrinsic system except Platelet Factor 3. TriniCLOT Automated aPTT is mixed with plasma to provide an optimum level of Platelet Factor 3 and a uniform activation of the sample. After incubation at 37°C for a specified time period, the reaction is initiated by the addition of calcium. The time, in seconds, required for clot formation is measured.
TriniCLOT Automated aPTT is a reagent used to test for all factors in the intrinsic system including Factors II, V, VIII, IX, X, XI, and XII. It is also sensitive to the presence of heparin but cannot be used to monitor oral anti-coagulant therapy since it is not sensitive to Factor VII nor is it sensitive to platelet dysfunction. These can be detected by a prothrombin time test or by a bleeding time test respectively.
