TriniCLOT aPTT S 10 ml

TriniCLOT aPTT S is a test kit for use in the determination of the Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT) and consists of a phospholipid reagent with particulate activator and a calcium chloride reagent.

The Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT) assay is a universally accepted screening procedure used to detect abnormalities in the intrinsic coagulation system. It can also be used in factor assays to quantitate deficiencies of Factors II, V, VIII, IX, X, XI, and XII but is insensitive to platelet Factor 3. In addition, it can be used to detect lupus anticoagulants and is recommended when monitoring heparin therapy since it is sensitive to the presence of heparin. The APTT assay is not recommended for monitoring oral anticoagulant therapy nor is it sensitive to platelet dysfunction. These conditions are better monitored by a prothrombin time test or a bleeding time test, respectively.
TriniCLOT aPTT S Reagent is mixed with patient plasma to provide optimal and uniform activation of the sample. After activation at 37°C for five minutes, the reaction is initiated by the addition of TriniCLOT aPTT S CaCl2. The time, in seconds, required for clot formation is measured.
