ADP 0,2 mMHart Biologicals Platelet Aggregation Reagents are used to diagnose platelet dysfunction, or normal platelet activity in human platelet rich plasma. ADP at a final concentration of 20μM will induce a single large wave of aggregation in normal platelet rich plasma (70-90% total aggregation). Two waves of aggregation may be observed when using lower concentrations of ADP in the test. The first wave is the response to the endogenously added ADP from the reagent, and the second wave is the result of ADP release from the platelet storage granules. Abnormal ADP aggregation will be observed in Glanzmann’s Thrombasthaenia, Afibrinogenaemia, storage pool disease, aspirin-like defect of the release reaction and following aspirin ingestion. |
